Description

A two-day workshop that will include the latest research and theory considering attachment and trauma. We will consider the influence of developmental trauma on the brain and very early attachment processes, the newer thoughts around attachment being a theory of regulation and the impact of trauma on every day social and academic functioning. Included would be intervention activities and ideas as well as guidelines to providing trauma informed care to clients and families. The information would be evidence based, as well aspraxtical in application. It will be a thoughtful, yet busy two days for the attendee. This would not be a workshop to miss!

Learning Objectives:

 

The participant will be able to:

  • Discuss 4 different attachment profiles and their regulation implications
  • Consider 5 aspects of developmental trauma that would influence ongoing development
  • Create a framework for co-regulation and regulation to support intervention outcomes
  • Describe 6 functional emotional developmental capacities of Dr. Stanley Greenspan
  • Frame the development of empathy through imitation and mirror neurons in early development
  • Include the concept of resilience in intervention as an ally in the therapeutic process

Presenter: Maude Le Roux OTR/L, IMC, SIPT, CTC, DIR-FT International Trainer

Bio: Maude Le Roux is an occupational therapist who is a returning speaker to our group. She studies human development in different capacities of growth, spanning ages and stages, neuroanatomy, assessment tools as well as current trends of intervention. She completed the SIPT training in 2002 and Sensory Integration forms the foundation from which she continues to develop different tracks of assessment and intervention. Maude is certified in multiple different techniques that she applies uniquely through her Developmental Pathways Model (DPM). She completed her DIR/Floortime certificate in 2005 and has been an Expert Training Leader for ICDL since 2011. She owns and directs a clinical practice in Glen Mills, PA, where she has become known for her effective assessment and intervention protocol. While she trains globally, Maude continues to operate this active practice to continue to inform her work and develop the case studies from which she expands her assessment and intervention protocol. Her requirement for practice is a warm, embracing atmosphere operated through clinical expertise and professionalism that will provide quality of care to all entering her practice. She gives back to her community by serving on different boards and currently serves on the Board of Directors for ATTACh, an international organization dedicated to serve families and children with attachment related difficulties and trauma informed care. She co-authored the book “Our Greatest Allies” in 2011 with Lauren O’Malley describing the journey of one child also describing the DIR/Floortime Method.
