The Importance of Fathers – Recording

Description

There is always much to be said about the importance of mothers, especially in the early bonding phase of in-utero development of the baby and right after birth. It is a special bond indeed. As we discuss this early bonding and attachment, we frequently omit the important role that fathers play in early and later development. In this recorded webinar, we will take a look at what the research says about fathers and the importance of having a father in today’s life. Amongst many others, we will discuss Kotelchuck’s research in the classic Stranger Situation develop by Dr. Mary Ainsworth. Contrary to some beliefs in fathers being a model for masculinity, early research suggests that warmth and closeness was a key factor in sons wanting to be like their fathers. This webinar will discuss these and other elements in a practical, informative way for therapists to include the consideration of fathers more in their therapeutic model of their practice. If you are a father searching for the role you need to play in your child’s life, you will find much room for thought as we celebrate your role through this webinar. If you are a mother searching for reasons to include your children’s father more in the aspects of parenting and being a family unit, this webinar is for you too.
