The Nutrition Corner

Description: This series of webinars on nutritional basics has been created to bring awareness of the importance of nutrition and supplementation and the role they play in our body’s health. With the right support, our body can be in a state of homeostasis or balance, this is when we are feeling energized, yet calm, clear minded rather than experiencing a foggy brain. We will be sharing information on how to support our body to function at its best. The brain is our most active organ, and we will discuss its high nutrient need and how to fuel it best for optimal function to support us in handling the demands of everyday life. In doing so, we are tasked with choosing supplements which can feel like an overwhelming task all on its own with all the options available on the market. We will show you how to identify quality supplements while highlighting ingredients to avoid when picking out supplements to integrate in your routine. Lastly, we will also discuss the gut-brain axis and the relationship between the brain and gut while introducing one of the most efficient diets to support a healthy gut microbiome- the paleo diet.

Outline / Agenda:

Session 1: January 27, 2023, at 11am US ET: Functional Nutrition Basics When we give the body the right information, instructions & environment, the body will function as nature intended. By assessing the current function of our body system, we can identify where the body needs additional support via nutrition and supplementation protocols. By pairing this with nervous system regulation and prioritizing our parasympathetic “rest & repair” mode, the human body will naturally thrive to its healthiest expression.

Session 2: February 17, 2023, at 9am US ET: Fueling The Brain
Our brain is the most metabolically active organ of the body, the brain has nutrition needs just like any other organ, the main difference is, the brain actually needs the most support. The brain has especially high needs for nutrients. These are the raw materials needed to maintain the brain’s structural integrity, build, and repair the neurons’ myelin sheath, protect the brain from damage caused by stress or overuse.

Session 3: March 31, 2023, at 11am US ET:  Supplementation 101 - How to Choose The Best Supplements
The supplement industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry. From left to right, we are constantly being marketed to new and different supplements based on the latest research and/or fad. How do we cut through the noise and decide what supplements are right for us? How do we make sure we are choosing quality supplements that we know will support our body in the way we intend?  In a recent study (October 2022) “the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder continues to rise and mounting evidence implies a potential role of the gut microbiome in ASD symptomatology. The core behavior features of ASD are often accompanied by multiple comorbidities such as gastrointestinal (GI) and immune dysfunction”.

Session 4: April 21, 2023, at 11am US ET: The Paleo Diet, Gut Microbiome & Autism
A Paleo Diet is one that mimics the diet of our ancestors before the agricultural revolution when crops started to be cultivated. The focus of this diet is eating meat, fish, and veggies rather than crops like wheat and soy. The spirit behind adopting this diet is to avoid foods that would negatively impact the health of your gut microbiome by avoiding refined sugars, MSG and chemicals that tend to land on processed foods via the
