Description: As an Expert Training Leader in DIR/Floortime through ICDL, Maude will take you through a fascinating recorded case study of a pre-school aged child as he travels through her program at A Total Approach. Due to the gracious permission of the family, his journey will be showcased through video with background in narrative. The narrative will be read as if though in first person, speaking through his eyes as he experienced the journey. The importance of this case study cannot be understated, as it truly reflects so many other children out there, as well as a family dedicated to work as a team with us as a village. His story unfolds as he travels through the different levels, goes through the “ups and downs”, while the narration explains the development and the why. The beauty of the respectful Floortime techniques, shines through his adorable eyes. In the therapy world, this is more than a methodology, it is about using play to gain play as an occupational function. It is used to gain access to his sensory, physical and emotional world, scaffolding the next layers in ways that meet him where he is at, yet keeping the balance of challenge in the just right space. His window of tolerance is met through the careful understanding of the vulnerabilities of growing up with a developmental delay. This recorded workshop is for all pediatric therapists out there, as much as it also a message of hope to parents everywhere.

Learning Objectives:
The workshop participant will be able to:
- Negotiate the 6 FEDC (Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities) levels of Dr. Stanley Greenspan through one case study with video.
- Discuss 10+ Floortime techniques that were used to mobilize his development
- Consider 2 other interventions that were used in addition to the Floortime Techniques

Bio: Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, is an international trainer in a variety of different courses. She is an accomplished occupational therapist with great affinity for learning and understanding behavior in the human brain. She was born and raised in South Africa and graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in Cape Town in 1984. Maude and Charl Le Roux moved to the USA in 1993 and opened A Total Approach in September 2001. Maude is SIPT certified and specializes in Sensory Integration services as it applies to functional activities of daily living, including improving the ability of children / students of all ages to partake in his/her learning environment.
Maude designs her own live courses with regards to occupational functioning of students across different ages and stages of development in a variety of categories. She works with a team of occupational therapists and speech language pathologists in her practice. She is well known for her experience and work with children who are diagnosed with ADHD/Executive Functioning, Autism Spectrum, Attachment, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Dyslexia/ Learning Disabilities. Maude attained her DIR/Floortime certificate in 2005 and became a training leader for ICDL in 2011. She mentors many therapists, including OT, SLP and DIR professionals internationally. She opened The Maude Le Roux Academy online in January 2019. Maude presented at conferences in a variety of settings across the US as well as internationally. She has co-authored the book, The Listening Journey, with Francoise Nicoloff, and her second book, Our Greatest Allies, is available on Amazon.com.
