This recorded workshop series of 6 sessions will enlighten therapists and parents alike as they journey together through the developmental growth needed in children.
It is not about changing the autistic into being less than themselves, it is about creating the best functionality possible so every child can fully flourish into who they really are. Autistics vary on the continuum in different shades on the spectrum, and therefor it is also important to note that a “one-size-fits-all” approach is not going to be an effective model. It is important for us to meet the child exactly where they are at and strengthen their vulnerabilities to support their strengths. This balancing act activates a constant need for reflection in what will be needed to mobilize the family forward. In a world where behaviors are heralded as an approach for Autism, this series is refreshing in that it considers the person rather than the surface; their strengths, rather than over focusing on their vulnerabilities; and a value on what each child brings to the intervention to find joy, peace and wholeness! It is a family centered approach, a speaking of the “same” language across different relationships with a common goal for the greater good of all.
This workshop will use social-emotional tenets as well as the DIR/Floortime Method and Sensory Integration principles as the foundation from which intervention can be negotiated. This workshop is also Track 3 of Maude’s Autism Program Certification for those who have completed Track 1 and 2 as well.
