Reading and Writing Intervention (Track 3) - Recording

Reading and Writing Intervention

Description: We all want our children / students to flourish in their occupational functions of academic proficiency. In the previous tracks we explored the underpinnings of reading and writing as well as the assessment thereof. Now we take a deeper dive with regards to what can be done about it. This recorded workshop series is not to promote any specific product, though we would welcome group discussion on what attendees recommend and their reasoning thereof. The information shared would be practical and applied to the developmental continuum discussed in previous tracks. Included in the course material will be practical step by step guides regarding learning to read and write the alphabet through a multisensory approach, building imagination and visualization for comprehension and written expression as well as building sufficient working memory for sustained reading attention and comprehension. The alphabet mastery program can be applied to any language, it is not particular to only English.

Session 2: Phase 2: Neural Organization of Reading and Writing

  1. Add at least 20+ activities / ideas for each phase of development

What People Are Saying:

I have learned so much that I can implement immediately. The understanding of the foundation skills is valuable. I will look at a student’s writing with new eyes. Loads of information!

Esme Strydom, NZ

As a teacher I will be able to better observe children and their hand strength/abilities with a more trained eye and help to better develop their pre-writing and writing skills through appropriate intervention and activities that the whole class can use. I can also use these at home with my own child, who is hypermobile and struggles so much with hand strength.

Catherine McMahon, S.A

Amazing course, full of great knowledge, skills and practical examples! Definitely recommended for OT’s working with children who experience writing difficulties!
