Learning Objectives:
January 2026: Introduction to Dyspraxia
By the end of January, participants will be able to identify and explain three distinct subtypes of Dyspraxia (somatosensory, bilateral integration/sequencing, and generalized dyspraxia) with 80% accuracy in a post-session quiz.
February 2026: Expanding the Sensory Systems
By February’s cohort meeting, participants will be able to analyze case examples and map at least two sensory system challenges (visual, auditory, interoceptive, or oral-olfactory) to functional praxis difficulties, as demonstrated in small group discussion.
March 2026: Praxis and Modulation
By the end of March, participants will be able to design one clinical activity that addresses ideation and one that addresses sensory modulation and share these strategies in the live session.
April 2026: Assessment
By April, participants will be able to apply the three phases of Dyspraxia assessment (Foundation, Organization, Achievement) to a provided case vignette, through group discussion within the live meeting timeframe.
May 2026: Effective Intervention (Part 1)
By the end of May, participants will be able to develop an intervention plan that includes at least two principles of intervention and one sensory modulation/emotional regulation strategy and present this plan to peers for feedback.
June 2026: Effective Intervention (Part 2)
By June, participants will be able to construct a three-step therapeutic activity that integrates vestibular, auditory, and visual input to enhance bilateral coordination, demonstrated through activity analysis during the cohort meeting.
July 2026: Anxiety and Sensory Processing
By July, participants will be able to differentiate between three types of anxiety and explain how sensory processing contributes to each, using examples from clinical practice during cohort reflection.
August 2026: Reflexes & Sensory Systems (Part 1)
By August, participants will be able to describe the developmental continuum of reflex integration and identify at least three reflexes (from utero–9 months) that impact sensory integration, as measured in a knowledge check activity.
September 2026: Reflexes & Sensory Systems (Part 2)
By the end of September, participants will be able to evaluate the role of Moro, Fear Paralysis, and Startle reflexes in shaping emotional experiences, and propose one intervention strategy in a small group exercise.
October 2026: Breath and Breathing
By October, participants will be able to demonstrate at least two breathing techniques that support stress regulation and improved praxis performance, practiced in the live cohort session.
November 2026: Laterality and Learning
By November, participants will be able to compare and contrast the functional roles of right and left-brain laterality in learning and integrate this knowledge into a short case reflection shared with peers.
December 2026: Praxis and Speech and Language Development: Occupational and Speech Language Therapy Collaboration
By December, participants will be able to create collaborative SMART goals and present their plan during the final cohort session.
Final Assessment: Completion of a multiple-choice questionnaire of 36 questions and feedback questionnaire
Certificate of attendance will be provided
