The Big Deal about Left and Right Brain Laterality and Learning - Recording

Description: What does it mean to be a whole brain thinker? Why do we have a left and right brain? Do they work separately or do they overlap? How does this impact your intervention? Maude will explore with you the complexities revealed by functional neuroscience, the facts behind being a left or right brain thinker and the interconnectivity need between both hemispheres. Together you will discover the development of laterality in the brain, the impact on language and creativity, and illustrate through the complex task of written expression, how each hemisphere needs the other to create optimal functioning. We will explore socio-emotional reasoning, together with the sensory motor pieces that assists us to create midline in our bodies, from which we pivot and rotate mentally as well as physically. Discover why it is so important not to stop the therapeutic process until this inter-hemispheric agency has been realized to its fullest capacity. As usual Maude will provide theory as well as practical ideas in the form of guidelines and activities and be ready for multiple “a-ha” moments that will serve your knowledge base and enhance your clinical reasoning in therapy.

Reviews:

This course has helped me understand why we need to stay on the developmental trajectory when working with our clients.  The skills will come when the building blocks are in place.  Our job is to help create the blocks and the child can take it further.
