Developmental Reading Assessment

Description: Join us for 7 virtual sessions (90 to 120 minutes each week) to explore what would be needed to effectively consider the necessary components in developing reading skill. Educational reading assessments consider if the child can decode fluently or comprehend the material they read. A developmental reading assessment considers the pathways in the brain that is necessary to develop the readiness to decode and integrate the information with fluency and comprehension. This process is one-of-a kind and quite uniquely developed by Maude Le Roux, using her Developmental Pathways Model with a twist. It bridges a very necessary gap between development and acquiring reading skill for the purposes of education.

If you had not completed Track 1 regarding the theory behind the assessment, it is recommended that you view this recorded series hosted in the recorded section of Maudeleroux.com prior to commencing in this workshop series

Presenter: Maude Le Roux is an occupational therapist who owns and directs a learning center, A Total Approach, in Pennsylvania, USA. She is an expert in developmental ages and stages and has trained internationally in her methods since 2007. Maude developed her assessment and intervention program for the skill of reading and writing over the past 15 years, pulling from experiences spanning 40 years of clinical practice. She has completed several certifications considering reading and writing and has built her eclectic approach from a variety of sources and mentors she values. Maude is a firm believer that if typical development is good enough for the typical developer, it must be good enough for the atypical developer. Her approach to reading and writing is not educational, but developmental in support of education. She values the impact of a team approach that considers individual differences in raising the bar to unlock the potential for each student. Maude acknowledges the social-emotional implications of struggling learners and operates from her mantra: If students could, they would. She opened the virtual Maude Le Roux Academy in 2019 and lives with her husband, Charl, and beloved Airedale, Simba in the suburbs of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.
