Description: This session will provide research on how today’s technology is inhibiting learning, creating attention issues, reducing communications, negatively impacting health and potentially setting you, your loved ones up for biopsychosocial consequences. Discover how cell phones and computer use negatively impacts the home, school and workplace. Explore and discuss research showing how technology dependence was exacerbated during Covid, accelerating it's already negative impact. Better understand how technology potentially facilitates and increases adolescent and young adult isolation and mental health issues. Discover how and why these conditions have been created in the convergence of Covid, social isolation, home schooling and social disruption. Presenter: John K Kriger, MSM, LCADC, CPS

Bio: John is a national and international keynote and content expert speaker, author and consultant. He formerly held a 14 yr. faculty member position at the Johnson & Johnson and Rutgers School Health Leadership Institute, and is a former Visiting Professor at Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. He has been an instructor for over 25 yr. at the Rutgers Center for Alcohol Studies and continues as an adjunct faculty at the Rutgers School Of Social Work, Office of Continuing Education where he has been for over 25 yrs. In 2018 he was given the NASN President’s Recognition Award for his support of NASN and School Nurses Nationally.

John is the author of, Turned On & Tuned Out, A Guide to Understanding and Managing Tech Dependence and The Pond: A Small Book About Making Big Changes, which was a required reading for the Johnson and Johnson and Rutgers School Health Leadership Institute.

He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Services, a Masters of Science Degree in Management and is a NJ Licensed Clinical Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor, a Nationally Certified Prevention Specialist and a New Jersey State Police trained Sexual Abuse Specialist.
