Symbolic Thinking and DIR/Floortime

Date: Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm US ET on June 26, July 3, 10, 17, 2024
(90 minutes per session)

Description: DIR/Floortime is such a versatile method, and we have Drs. Stanley Greenspan and Serena Wieder to thank for this! During this workshop we will dive deeper into emotional thinking and the different aspects of using play and playfulness from a developmental perspective. Opportunities for case discussions will be available. We will take a deeper dive into different emotional themes and use 1 Disney story to depict the themes and emotional growth possibilities in exploring popular stories. Different Floortime techniques will be included as information will be practical with a lens on mobilizing each child into more function than may have been thought possible. The social construct of Theory of Mind and perspective taking and the concept of “window of tolerance” and “just right” challenge are essential components of this important discussion. How do we scaffold or approach these complicated and threatening emotions. This is going to be an exciting adventure as we discuss complicated material through the playful lens of DIR/Floortime.
